My ADSL speeds went up when the bell wire was disconnected.

This page reports that when I disconnected the Bell wire at my master socket faceplate, My ADSL connection downloads went from a disappointing 136 kbs to a very acceptable 5250 kbs Downstream and ~4000kbps download.

Below is a spectrogram of the results of "xdsl info" and "xdsl debug bitloadinginfo" captured by Perl script output from Thomson TG585 v8 ADSL router. I have a Perl script to poll the ADSL modem each time I turned on my PC and when I wanted. I telnet onto the modem and run the commands and log the output. I use a LUA script to generate the graphic files below.

On about 19th June 2011 I upgraded my ADSL modem to eTEC Model Name: 8411G . The Upstream / downstream speeds of were 444/ 9866 kbps

On about 5th July 2011 I have upgraded my ADSL modem to Plusnet's Standard Issue. The Upstream / downstream speeds of were pretty good but have stuck at 444 / 4544 kbps

NOTE: 01/07/2011 I have signed up to "a Broadband trial for TV services", and upgraded to the Plusnets standard issue modem Thomson TG585 v8 Plusnet 8.2.7.8.DA. On 5th July 2011 I have upgraded my ADSL modem to Plusnet's Standard Issue and found how to extract the data for these plots. The Upstream / downstream speeds of were pretty good but have stuck at 444 / 4544 kbps. Hopefully this is due to the many outages due to replacing the ADSL modems.
